A Grand Cordon set, featuring the badge: A silver gilt multiple-ray sunburst with dual rays at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, with conjoining bar between every ray creating an oval shape, centre obverse features a right facing bust of Simon Bolivar, in a blue enamel surround inscribed SIMON BOLIVAR, reverse center bears superimposed coat of arms on medallion, measures 43.9mm (w) x 56.9mm (h – inclusive of integral ball), weighs 38.5 grams, worn on a full length contemporary sash, heavily gilded, light wear, in very extremely fine condition. The Star of the Order, in silvered bronze, an eight point star with clusters of faceted rays, the center medallion is superimposed presenting a silver gilt multiple-ray sunburst with dual rays at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, with conjoining bar between every ray creating an oval shape, centre obverse features a right facing bust of Simon Bolivar, in a blue enamel surround inscribed SIMON BOLIVAR, the reverse presents a single vertical pin and is otherwise plain, measures 83.6mm (w) x 91.5mm (h), weighs 82.7 grams, minimal wear, incredible lustre, in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by a miniature of the order in silver gilt, on original ribbon with large rosette and pin on the reverse. A boutonniere pin is also included with a rosette and the proper golden coloured ribbon underneath.
The set and accoutrements are contained in the original case of issue, featuring a red leatherette case, the exterior lid marked ORDEN DEL LIBERATOR PRIMERA CLASE with the coat of arms, the interior lid is white and marked DISTINTIVOS VENEZOLANOS FABRICANTES, with a removable bright red velvet medalbed with elastic rings for star, measures 165mm (w) x 338mm (l) x 55mm (d), interior edge to lift medalbed broken, minor scuffs to exterior, hinge and catch functional, in near very fine condition.
