(Real y Militar Orden de San Hermenegildo). Instituted in 1814. Three-piece construction, in silver gilt with red, green, light blue and white enamels, unmarked, measuring 75.8 mm (w) x 76 mm (h), chipping and repair evident in the white enamels on the centrepiece ring, the ball finial on the left tip of the arm at 6 o'clock bent back, vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs, better than very fine.
Footnote: The Royal and Military Order of St Hermenegildo was instituted on November 28, 1814 and awarded to all ranks of the armed forces and civil guard for faithful service, in four grades: Grand Cross, Star, Commander and Knight.
