Spain, Franco Period. A Medal of the Russian Campaign
(Medalla de la Campaña de Rusia). Instituted 9 November 1943. (1943-1944 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse featuring a National Eagle of the Spanish Army with Falange insignia, overlaid by an Iron Cross in black enamels displaying a silvered swastika, surrounded by a laurel wreath topped by a royal crown, the reverse featuring a depiction of the Novgorod Kremlin surrounded by a chain wreath, with a bottom inscription of “RUSIA 1941”, unmarked, measuring 37.98 mm (w) x 51.35 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
