The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Member. In silver, 64mm (h) x 49mm (w), on 2nd Type original military ribbon, extremely fine. In original case of issue, marked “ROYAL MINT” on inside lid, very fine. Accompanied by original documentation.
Footnote: Esquire Lieutenant (Temporary Captain) Ronald Ian Williams, Corps of Royal Engineers was appointed an Additional Member of the Military Division of the Order on June 18, 1946. He is listed in the Supplement to the London Gazette, June 14, 1946, on page 3057. Captain Williams performed exceptional services in clearing defensive minefields and disposing of unexploded enemy bombs. In June 1944, he was responsible for the successful clearing of a minefield near Grimsby, full of anti-personnel mines which originated from an enemy air attack, as Butterfly bombs. He cleared several other minefields, all without casualties.
