What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

Twenty-Two Percent (22%) of the Hammer Price

United States. A Spanish-American War & Boxer Rebellion Group Private Carroll, Acting Cook in the Hospital Corps, USA

Army Spanish Campaign Medal (in bronze, number impressed "No. 7290" on the edge, measuring 32.8 mm in diameter); Army of Cuban Occupation Medal (in bronze, number impressed "No. 2952" on the edge, measuring 33 mm in diameter); Philippine Insurrection Medal (in bronze, number impressed "No. 4707" on the edge, measuring 32.8 mm in diameter); and Army China Campaign Medal (in bronze, number impressed "No. 321" on the edge, measuring 32.8 mm in diameter). Each medal with their original ribbons, the Army Spanish Campaign Medal with a second style ribbon, all are mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, residue evident in the recessed areas on the obverse of the Army Spanish Campaign Medal, edge nicks on all four, accompanied by a Ribbon Bar with three ribbons (the Army Spanish Campaign Medal, the Army of Cuban Occupation Medal and the Philippine Insurrection Medal, measuring 104 mm (w) x 10.3 mm (h), with swing bar pinback). Near extremely fine.

Footnote: Private Robert Carroll was an Acting Cook in the Hospital Corps during the Spanish-American War and for his service, he was awarded the Army Spanish Campaign Medal, number 7290, issued on April 1, 1916 and the Army of Cuban Occupation Medal, number 2952, issued on March 25, 1916. He was serving as a Private with the 27th Company, Coast Artillery Company, as part of the 9th Regiment, when he was awarded the Philippine Insurrection Medal, number 4707 and the Army China Campaign Medal, number 321, issued on July 24, 1908. In regards to the Army China Campaign Medal, the official list acknowledges that Carroll was to be issued with number 320, however, he was issued with number 321. First Sergeant Gottfried Hug should have been issued with number 321. The two men were in the same company and the error likely occurred when they handed out the medals, as the men really didn't pay that much attention to the number impressed on the edge and matching them to the list.
