A round, bronze medal, measures 32.47 mm in diameter, reverse engraved OTTO EDWARD ANDRULAT 1932, on original ribbon with brooch pinback bar, the ribbon bearing two bars with dates 1936 1940, presenting wear and yellow patina, and in very fine condition. Accompanied by research pertaining to Andrulat’s service.
Footnote: Otto Edward Andrulat was born on 22 December 1902 in Westfield, Massachusetts to parents Adam Andrulat (1874-1971) and Anna Kurapkt (1879-1954). He enlisted in the United States Navy on 23 November 1922. His second service began on 3 December 1928 at the Navy Recruiting Station in New Haven, Connecticut. Andrulat served on the U.S.S. Wyoming from 12 December 1928 to 14 June 1929, then transferred to the U.S.S. Arizona from 14 June 1929 to 1 March 1933. Andrulat was at the Naval Training Center in San Diego until 29 April 1933, and returned to the U.S.S. Arizona. Andrulat joined the U.S.S. Astoria on 28 April 1934. According to the Muster Roll of the Crew for the U.S.S. California, dated 30 June 1930, Andrulat was a crew member since 1 May 1940. According to the curator of the Battleship North Carolina, Andrulat reported abroad on 9 April 1941 as Chief Electrician’s Mate and was transferred on 6 April 1943. His final ranking in the Navy was Chief Warrant Officer. Andrulat received a Good Conduct Medal, an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, an American Campaign Medal, and a Philippine Liberation Medal.
