Croatia, Independent State. A Badge of the German Regiment (Croatian Army), c.1941
In die-stamped aluminum with red and black lacquers, slightly vaulted, illustrating a swastika surrounded by a wreath composed of oak leaves, measuring 61.5 mm in diameter, with six die-holes on the edge for uniform attachment, very light contact, near extremely fine.
Footnote: With the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia in 1941, a German minority predominantly living in Slovenia were allowed to form a distinctive German-speaking regiment made up of entirely of Germans within the Croatian Home Army, wearing Croatian Army uniforms, only distinguishing themselves through this distinctive insignia, the so called "German Badge" sewn on to the upper part of the left sleeve.
