(Hausorden Albrecht des Bären Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse Komturkreuz mit Kone und Schwertern). Issued 1901-1918. An oval badge constructed of heavily gilded bronze, the obverse displaying a crowned bear walking on-top of a fortress wall, circumscribed “Fürchte Gott und Befolge seine Befehle” (Fear God and Follow his Commands), he reverse inscribed “Albrecht der Baer Reg: 1123 bis 1170”, with swords suspended from a hollow swivel crown and double loop for suspension from its period original neck ribbon, measuring 43.76 mm (w) x 78.28 mm (h), weighing 36.2 grams, light tarnishing on the crown, in overall better than extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
