(Hausorden der Treue). Instituted 1720 - Revised 1803. II Model. A superb cross in Gold consisting of a red enameled Maltese cross with ball finials, hand detailed Gold ""C""s in each quadrant representing the initials of the order cofounder Charles III William, Margrave of Baden-Durlach, obverse centre in white enamel with hand painted motto Fidelitas (Latin for ""Fidelity""), royal cypher, and green mountains, reverse centre presents the arms of Baden consisting of a red enameled fess, adorned by the Baden crown (earlier wide fixed swivel crown version), with enameled jewels, measuring 62.8 mm (w) x 95 mm (h - inclusive of horizontally pierced ball suspension adorned by cross), 46.01 grams, with loss of right 6 o'clock ball finial, loss of reverse crown section, red enamel crack to obverse 12 o'clock arm (right tip), contact to enamels, on original silk sash, otherwise near very fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
