Canada. A ERII Royal Canadian Army Service Corps Forage Cap
This body on this fine quality cap is fabricated from a black wool, in the traditional flat top design with raised peak, with three rows of white piping: one along the top edge and two on the side panel. There are two black metal eyelets on each side of the cap on the underside of the overhang for ventilation. The front is adorned with a 42 mm (w) x 47 mm (h) ERII Royal Canadian Army Service Corps Cap Badge in silvered and gilt bronze with red and blue enamels. The black patent leather visor has a black two-piece patent leather strap resting along the top edge, held in position via silvered ERII Royal Canadian Army Service Corps insignia service buttons on both sides, along with a raised 17 mm wide border on the brim covered in gold-coloured bullion wire, trimmed in gold-coloured bullion wire cord on either side. The underside of the visor has a hunter green synthetic finish, the visor itself very stiff. The 55 mm wide sweatband is fabricated from tawny brown leather, emboss stamped "Real Roam Leather" on the left side, with the two ends stitched together at the rear. The sidewalls and dome are covered in a reddish-brown moisture-resistant fabric, with a "THOMAS & STONE LONDON" manufacturer's label stamped in place in the dome under the moisture-resistant covering. The visor and strap exhibit very light crazing, with very light soiling on the sweatband and on the black wool near the opening at the rear. Overall, it continues to exhibit smooth quality in the wool, plus quality workmanship, intact stitching, maintaining its original period look, near extremely fine.
