Germany, Der Stahlhelm. A Rare 1919 Membership Badge, Large Version, by Der Stahlhof Magdeburg
(Der Stahlhelm Diensteintrittsabzeichen 1919). Constructed of silver with black enamels, the obverse consisting of a black enameled disc, bearing a silvered date of “1919” topped by oak leaves and a raised Stahlhelm insignia, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, bearing an etched membership code and date of “1919”, stamped with a silver content number of “800”, and maker marked with the logo of Der Stahlhof, Magdeburg, measuring 35.10 mm in diameter, weighing 17.4 grams, the enamel demonstrates some scratching with an additional chip at the two o’clock position, a rare large version badge issued to the earliest Stahlhelm members in very fine condition.
