A lot of three Imperial Austrian medals, including a Commemorative Court Officials Medal 1898 (Jübileums Hofmedaille 1898), for Military Personnel, constructed of bronze, the obverse presents the portrait of Franz Joseph in his uniform as field marshal, bearing the Golden Fleece, the star of the Military Maria Theresa Order, and three other awards, the reverse bears the inscription FRANCISCVS JOSEPHVS I QVINQVAGENARII REGNI DIEM FESTVM CELEBRANS / II DECEMBRIS MDCCCXCVII, measuring 31.06 mm (w) x 43.21 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original triangular ribbon, bearing the metal clasp with the dates 1848-1898, and in very fine condition. A Commemorative Cross 1848-1908, Military Division, a gilded bronze cross pattée, with a wreath of laurel leaves between the arms of the cross, the obverse centre displays a right-facing bust of Franz Joseph, inscribed FRANC IOS, reverse presents the dates 1848 1908, measuring 35.91 mm (w) x 41.33 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original military personnel tri-fold ribbon, and in good condition.A Commemorative Cross 1848-1908, Court Personnel, a gilded bronze cross pattée, with a wreath of laurel leaves between the arms of the cross, the obverse centre displays a right-facing bust of Franz Joseph, inscribed FRANC IOS, reverse presents the dates 1848 1908, measuring 36.15 mm (w) x 42.00 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original court personnel tri-fold ribbon, and in good condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
