A group of four First War patriotic badges, including an Empress Elizabeth Hungarian regimental badge, constructed of zink, vertical pinback, the obverse maker marked “BERÁN LAJOS 1917”, measuring 34 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), in very fine condition; a Tsar Ferdinand I Hussar Regiment badge, constructed of bronzed zink, vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 27 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), in very fine condition; a 49th Infantry Division “Pussterthal” badge, constructed of zink, vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 20 mm (w) x 26 mm (h), in better than very fine condition, and; a 12th Corps campaign badge, constructed of bronze, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 25 mm (w) x 20 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
