A collection of six cap badges, including a Merchant Submarines cap badge, maker marked ATEL.G.GURSCHNER WIEN VII/2, on a vertical pinback, measuring 30.23 mm (w) x 38.48 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A Railway Troops cap badge constructed of stamped metal in a bronze finish, the obverse centre presents an off-set square with the embossed design of two horses in front of a train wagon, above an emblem of a winged train wheel, the top section of the badge is a partially visible circle with a border 1914 K.U.K. PFERDEFELDBAHN 1917, reverse maker marked AUSGEF. ATELIER G.GURSCHNER WIEN VII/2, on a horizontal pinback, measuring 32.96 mm (w) x 38.41 mm (h), and in good condition. A Bahnhof-KDO Lemberg cap badge, reverse maker marked GURSCHNER WIEN VII/2, on a horizontal pinback, measuring 38.52 mm (w) x 26.35 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A SCH RGT. 30 cap badge, constructed of tombac, with dual prongs, measuring 27.17 mm (w) x 35.44 mm (h), and in good condition. A KAIS. KÖNIG SCHÜTZEN REGIMENT 26 cap badge, reverse displays dual prongs, measuring 44.71 mm (w) x 40.45 mm (h), and in good condition. A 21st Landwehr Infantry Division cap badge, constructed of stamped metal in a bronze finish, the obverse presents the number 21, surmounted over the blades of two crossed swords, at the top o the badge is a double-headed eagle, at the base is a border inscription reading LANDWEHR INFT TRP DIVISION, reverse presents two retaining prongs, maker marked G. GURSCHNER, measuring 25.89 mm (w) x 33.69 mm (h), and in near very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
