A grouping of three Imperial Austrian Bravery and Military Merit medals, including 1) A 1917 Issue Bronze Bravery Medal; a round bronze medal; marked “Kautsch” on the obverse; on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 31.15 mm in diameter; weighing 14.0 grams. 2) An 1866-1914 Issue Silver Bravery Medal Second Class; Second Award; a round silver medal; marked “Tautenhayn” on the obverse; on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a single repetition clasp; measuring 31.13 mm in diameter; weighing 15.6 grams. 3) A 1890 Issue Bronze Military Merit Medal; a round bronze medal; on a swivel crown and loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 30.83 mm in diameter; weighing 19.8 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
