A grouping of three Austrian long service medals, consisting of
1) An Austrian Bronze Honour Medal for 40-Year Long Service; in bronze; the obverse depicting a rightward facing bust of Kaiser Franz Joseph, circumscribed by his name and title and an oak wreath along the edge of the medal; the reverse inscribed “XXXX - Perfacty Signumiaboris Fideliter”; on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a golden bullion star; measuring 34.28 mm in diameter; weighing 23.3 grams with its ribbon.
2) An Imperial 1912-1913 Balkan Mobilization cross; constructed of gilt bronze; the obverse dated “1912-1913” in the centre; the reverse plain; on loop for suspension from its correct replacement ribbon; measuring 35.13mm (w) x 35.25 mm (h); weighing 12.1 grams.
3) An Austrian First Republic 5-Year Long Service cross; in gilt bronze; the obverse with the number “5” in the centre; the reverse plain; measuring 35.53 mm (w) x 35.02 mm; weighing 14.7 grams with its ribbons; in overall very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
