Type I (Issued 1915-1919) In toned silver with a 6 pointed star encased within an ornate silver boarder, with white and green enamels with gilt inlay, suspension with hand etched detailing, measuring 50.2 mm (w) x 95 mm ( h - inclusive of suspension), on original neck ribbon, minor contact to centre enamels, otherwise extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Muhammad Ali (Nishan al-Muhammad 'Ali) was founded by Sultan Husain Kamil on April 14, 1915. It was awarded in a supreme class (Grand Cordon with Collar), two ordinary classes (Grand Cordon and Commander) and two medals (gold and silver grades). The supreme class being restricted to Heads of State and members of the Egyptian and foreign Royal houses. The Grand Cordon was restricted to fifteen recipients at any one time. They enjoyed the title of Pasha with the style of His Excellency (Hazrat Sahib al-Ma'ali) and were entitled to military saluteEgypt, British Protectorate. An Order of Muhammed Ali, Commander's Star, c. ""Egypt; In silver gilt with white and green enameled insignia, mounted to a six-pointed star base, unmarked however possibly French made, 72.5 mm (w) x 83 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs, intact enamels, extremely fine. when wearing their insignia. The medals were awarded for acts of military gallantry, regardless of rank. It became obsolete in 1954."
