DUVIVIER F."" at the base of the bust, surrounded by the inscription ""LOUIS XVI ROI DES FRANÇOIS"" (King Louis XVI of France) and inscribed ""VILLE DE PARIS"" (City of Paris) below the bust, reverse illustrating King Louis XVI and members of the Royal Family on their arrival in Paris on October 6, 1789, a French street scene with a welcoming crowd of people at the far right, engraver marked ""DUVIV"", surrounded by the inscription ""J'Y FERAI DESORMAIS MA DEMEURE HABITUELLE"" (I Will Make This Our Habitual Residence) and inscribed ""ARRIVEE DU ROI A PARIS / LE 6.OCT.1789"" (Arrival of the King in Paris / October 6, 1789) below, 53 mm, housed within a 55 mm diameter brass frame, ring suspension, scattered blackening wear, extremely fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
