A lapel pin featuring an Iron Cross in black enamel beside a flag representing the German Empire, reverse shows a horizontal pinback, reverse engraved with “GES GESCHÜTZT,” measures 72 mm (w) x 9 mm (h), and in very fine condition. A silvered, round lapel pin, featuring the flags of the Central Powers (German Empire, Austrian Empire, and Ottoman Empire), reverse shows a horizontal pinback, reverse engraved with “GES GESCHÜTZT,” measures 23 mm in diameter, and in very fine condition. A lapel pin featuring a flag constructed of green enamel with a golden crescent moon and star, reverse presents a horizontal pinback, measures 19 mm (w) x 19 mm (h), and in extremely fine condition. A First War Red Cross pin featuring a German Shepard on a safety pin, measures 24 mm (w) x 15 mm (h), moderate enamel wear, and in good condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
