Footnote: E.D. Farmar was to be a Surgeon, the announcement appearing in the British Medical Journal of August 27, 1881, with Farmar later serving in Egypt. Surgeon E.D. Farmar-Bringhurst was serving in the Madras command and had ""leave to England for six months on urgent private affairs"", the announcement appearing in the British Medical Journal of July 25, 1891. He was ""granted an extension of leave from June 7th to November 6th for the recovery of his health"", the announcement appearing in the British Medical Journal, Naval and Military Medical Services of July 15, 1893.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
