Instituted 1925. A presentation case for a Grand Cross set of the Order of the Orthodox Crusaders of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, constructed of a wood frame with a faux purple leather exterior, the obverse lid with a silver embossed coat of arms of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, circumscribed by an inscription of “ORTHODOX PATRIARCHATE OF JERUSALEM” in French and Greek, the interior with a padded white satin-type lid liner, inscribed by a maker’s mark of “G. Lemaitre, Lemaitre et Fils, 346. Rue St. Honore, Devant 5 bis Rue de Louvre, Paris”, with an intact hinge cover and slotted and depressed black doeskin medal bed, with three rosette-style boutonnieres, opening with a bronze spring catch with exterior stud release, with dual non-functional magnetic metal hinges, measuring 122 mm (w) x 280 mm (l) x 38 mm (h), in very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
