(Haus und Verdiesnt Orden des Herzogs Peter Friedrich Ludwig Komturkreuz); A hollow gold cross pattee with white enameled arms; the obverse with a central blue enameled medallion depicting the crowned cipher of Peter Friedrich Ludwig, surrounded by a gold ring and a ring of red enamels, inscribed Ein Gott-Ein Recht-Eine Wahrheit (German - One God, One Righteousness, One Truth); the reverse with white enameled arms inscribed with dates, and with a central white enameled medallion depicting the Oldenburg coat of arms; suspended from a golden crown suspension, with a double loop and a correct replacement ribbon; an unmarked example; measuring 44.09 mm (w) x 76.65 mm (h); weighing 26.1 grams; in overall virtually mint condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
