(Haus und Verdienstorden von Herzog Peter Friedrich Ludwig, Ritterkreuz II. Klasse). Instituted on November 27, 1838 by Grand Duke Paul Friedrich August. (Issued 1906-1918). A cross pattee with white enameled arms and crossed swords between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a central blue enameled medallion depicting a silver crowned cipher of Peter Friedrich Ludwig, surrounded by a ring of red enamels, inscribed Ein Gott-Ein Recht-Eine Wahrheit (German - One God, One Righteousness, One Truth), the reverse with white enameled arms inscribed with a series of dates, and with a central white enameled medallion depicting the Oldenburg coat of arms, suspended from a multi-link suspension from a correct replacement ribbon with a horizontal pinback, measuring 40.03 mm (w) x 40.00 mm (h), weighing 22.8 grams, in overall extremely fine condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
