(Roter Adler-Orden Bruststern zur II. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792. (1858-1918 Issue). In silver and Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a four-pointed radiant star, the obverse bearing a Cross Pattée with a Gold frame and white enameled arms, with a central white enameled applique bearing a hand-painted red Hohenzollern eagle clutching green laurel branches, inside of a gilt ring, in turn ring by white enamels inscribed with a gilt order motto of “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER” (“SINCERE AND PERSISTENT”), with green laurel branches at the bottom, inside of a final ring of ribbed gilt, the reverse with four visible rivets holding the obverse applique in place, with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, marked with etched "W" under catch denoting Hersteller Wagner & Söhne, Berlin, measuring 80.33 mm (w) x 79.28 mm (h), weighing 67.2 grams, minor tarnishing of the silver and flecking of the enamels is evident, otherwise in near extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
