A case for an Order of Saint Stanislaus, I Class, constructed of wood with a faux red leather exterior, the obverse lid with a central gold embossed Romanov imperial eagle, with an inscription of “СВ. СТАНИСЛАВА 1 СТЕПЕНИ” (“ST. STANISLAUS 1 CLASS”), the interior with a white padded satin-type lid lind, intact hinge cover, removable depressed white felt medal beds, with functional dual snap buttons and functional magnetic metal hinges, the lid liner maker marked “П.С. ПЕТРОВ, ПЕТРОГРАДЪ” (“P.S. PETROV, PETROGRAD”), 1914-1917 manufacture, measuring 265 mm (w) x 155 mm (l) x 60 mm (h), minor age-appropriate material fatigue, otherwise in very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
