(Sachsen-Ernestinischer Hausorden, Großkreuz Etui). Instituted 25 December 1833 by Duke Friedrich of Saxe-Altenburg, Duke Ernst I of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and Duke Bernhard II of Saxe-Meiningen. (1833-1918 Issue). An original presentation case of issue for a Saxe-Ernestine House Order Grand Cross with Swords Set, constructed of a hard burgundy faux leather, the obverse presents the gilt coat of arms and motto FIDELITER ET CONSTANTER (FAITHFUL AND STEADFAST), surrounded by a decorative scroll border, the interior of the lid presents white silk lining, with a recessed, green velvet medal bed, removable for storage of sash, with functional hook and clasp, maker marked on reverse with sticker for C.W. LÖFFLER, HOFBUCHBINDER, MEININGEN, measuring 13.2 cm (w) x 24.2 cm (l) x 3.8 cm (h), presenting mild scuffing, and in near extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
