(Waffen-SS Stahlhelm M40). A rare Waffen-SS battlefield relic M40 Stahlhelm, constructed of a magnetic molybdenum steel shell. The exterior retains some of its original matte dark green painted finish. Two protruding rivets are set into the sides of the helmet near the front, with an empty rivet socket also located at the back of the helmet. It is flanked on each side by an integrated ventilation hole. On the right side, the helmet bears the remnants of a Waffen-SS decal consisting of a white shield overlaid by dual black Sig runes, measuring approximately 34 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). The interior presents plain. It is without evident marks, and measures 230 mm (w) x 278 mm (l) x 145 mm (h). As a ground-dug battlefield relic, the helmet demonstrates extensive deterioration, including oxidation and loss of paint throughout (resulting in three small holes), the loss of one of the decals, and the loss of all interior features. It is in an overall poor condition.
