Germany, Wehrmacht. A Model C Throat Microphone
(Kehlkopfmikrofon). A well-preserved Model C throat microphone used by Wehrmacht Flak and Panzer personnel. It is constructed of a malleable leather-insulated magnetic metal band connecting to dual circular black bakelite input microphones. An insulated wire cord emanates from the bottom of each input, with magnetic metal springs over each seam. The wires connected to a control switch with a black bakelite casing and functional magnetic metal spring clip for uniform attachment. A further cord emanates from the control module and completes in a three-pronged plug. The outer edge of one input microphone bears the remnants of a Wehrmacht mark with an illegible maker’s code. Minor material fatigue is visible, particularly to the leather liner, but the microphone is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
