Wurttemberg. A Military Merit Order, I Class Miniature Knight in Gold, c.1914
(Militär-Verdienstorden Ritterkreuz). Instituted on 11 February 1759. Type VII. (1914-1918 Issue). A Gold Maltese cross pattée with white enameled arms, obverse with a central white enameled medallion with a green enameled laurel wreath, surrounded by a broad blue enameled ring, inscribed FURCHTLOS UND TREW (FEARLESS AND LOYAL), reverse with a central white enameled medallion, bearing the crowned royal cipher, inscribed FURCHTLOS UND TREW (FEARLESS AND LOYAL), with centre pieces inverted, measuring 14.88 mm (w) x 17.52 mm (h), weighing 1.4 grams, fine.
