Germany, Wehrmacht. A Wehrmacht Militärverwaltung (Military Administration) Officer’s Cape
(Militärverwaltung Umhang). This is an extremely well-preserved Wehrmacht Militärverwaltung (Military Administration) officer’s cape, constructed of smooth field-grey wool twill. The cape bears a forest green wool collar, underneath which sit three tan-coloured bakelite buttons, as well as a detachable wool strap. The cap is held closed by four pieces of machine-stitching along the breast flaps, and by four dark brown bakelite buttons on the right breast meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior of the cape is fully lined with a dark grey rayon liner with a high sheen, while the cape is secured during wear by a green wool strap on the left collar bearing a pebbled, silvered zink button meeting a strap with a reinforced buttonhole on the opposite side. The interior of the collar also bears a machine-embroidered label clealy reading “MEISTER-KRONE” and “EIN QUALITÄTSBEGRIFF”. The collar also bears a loop for suspension, as well as a magnetic metal clip on the right meeting a loop of identical construction on the left. The cape measuring approximately 144 cm in width at its maximum expanse, with a body length of 117 cm. With the exception of some sporadic patches of soiling, the cape is in a near extremely fine condition.
