France. An Indochina Vietnam "Hussars" Light Cavalry Garrison Side Cap, Un-Issued
Fabricated from a fine navy blue wool, with fold down flaps also in navy blue wool on either side, two rising peaks forming a valley between the two panels, the valley in steel blue wool, with a 85 mm (w) x 43 mm (h) white embroidered Hussars insignia on a black wool base sewn in place on the front. The inside is lined in olive green cotton, the 27 mm wide sweatband in black cotton, the sweatband maker stamped in white ink "WEBER - NANCY -" and size stamped in white ink "59" on the left side. The cap measures 300 mm (w) x 122 mm (h), without interruptions in the fabrics and is free of mothing. Near mint. Footnote: French "Hussars" Light Cavalry units operated America supplied M-8 armored cars in the fierce fighting in Indochina. These armored cars escorted convoys, performed reconnaissance, and operated as infantry support.
