Germany. Three Medals, Awards, and Decorations
A grouping of three second war German medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of 1) A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern); maltese cross in bronzed zink; on loop for suspension - marked “110” for “Otto Zappe, Gablonz an der Neisse”; with an incorrect replacement ribbon (the ribbon is for a War Merit Medal); the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 47.87 mm (w) x 47.39 mm (h); weighing 20.0 grams. 2) An Eastern Winter Campaign Medal “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 Medaille”; in silvered and patinated zink; on loop for suspension (unmarked); with its period original ribbon; with a large national eagle on the obverse clutching a swastika (“Hakenkreuz”) and a leftward facing Stahlhelm on the top with horizontally oriented stick grenade; the reverse “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42) in all capital letters with a crossed sword and laurel wreath on the bottom; measuring 36.13 mm x 44.06 mm; weighing 20.2 grams. 3) A Kyffhäuser Commemroative Medal; in gilt bronze; on a loop for a suspension from its small ribbon, but also accompanied by a full size period original ribbon; measuring 30.70 mm (w) x 47.16 mm (h); in overall better than very fine condition.
