Great Britain. A Most Honourable Order of the Bath, (CB), Attributed to French General Valdant
First war period issue; multi-piece construction, silver gilt with red, green, white and blue enamels, unmarked, 49 mm (w) x 52.5 mm (h), on a full-length original neck ribbon, chipping evident in the red and green enamels on the wreath on both sides, the remaining enamels intact, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, marked "C.B. MILY" on the lid, maker marked "GARRARD & Co Ltd" on the inside lid, raised platform with a recessed medal bed, case also extremely fine. Accompanied by period typed note "General de Brigade VALDANT (C.B.). Footnote: French General Henry C. Valdant was Chief of Staff to the Commanding General and Military Governor of Paris during the First War, 1919.
