Iceland, Republic. An Order of the Falcon, Knight's Cross, c.1930
Type I. (1921-1944 Issue). In silver with blue and white enamels, unmarked, type I with the royal crown, 31.3 mm (w) x 61.5 mm (h), without ribbon, chipping and repair evident in the blue enamels on the obverse centrepiece, very fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, maker marked "A. MICHELSEN KØBENHAVN" on the inside lid, recessed medal bed, light soiling evident on the exterior, case very fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Falcon is a national Order of Iceland, established on July 3, 1921 by King Christian X of Denmark and Iceland. It is awarded in five classes: Chain with Grand Cross, Knight Grand Cross, Commander's Cross with Star, Commander's Cross and Knight's Cross.
