(Currency, Coins). Antique. A circular coin constructed of gold. The obverse bears the portrait of Chales III, partially encompassed by the inscription “CAROL III D G HISP ET IND R” (Charles III by the grace of God King of Spain). Below the bust is the date “1788” between a small flower on the left and right. The reverse bears the crowned coat of arms of Spain with the number “4” on the left side and the letter “S” on the right side, surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, and encompassed by the inscription “AUSPICE DEO IN UTROQ FELIX”. The crowned “M” at the bottom left of the Order of the Golden Fleece indicates Madrid and the letter “M” on the right of the Order is an assayer initial. The edge of the coin is center slanted leaning left. Measuring 29.58mm in diameter and weighing 13.4 grams. This coin has been graded VF30 by ICCS (International Coin Certification Service).
