(Orden de la Mehdauia). Instituted 1926. Issued 1926-1956. A six-pointed star in silver, with obverse centre featuring a large dark blue enameled Salomonic Cross on a light blue enameled base, centre medallion depicting a sunset with green, yellow, and white enamels, reverse with pin assembly and dual stays, the reverse engraved Italian maker's signature “E. Gardino Succ. Cravanzola Roma”, measuring 64.46 mm (w) x 75.1 mm (h), with loss of enamels, fair.
Footnote: The Order of Mehdauia was established by Prince Moulay Hassan bin al-Mahdi of Morocco on August 18, 1926. It was conferred upon national and foreign citizens in recognition of distinguished and notorious services that supported Spanish interests in Morocco. The Order became obsolete after Morocco achieved its independence in 1956.
