Romania, Republic. The Order of the Hero of Socialist Labour of Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej
The second of two Hero awards presented to Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej. 1951-1965 Issue. In solid 14Kt.Gold (unmarked, but tested), weighing 23.2 grams inclusive of its hanger, officially impressed "24" on the reverse, measuring 29 mm x 30.5 mm inclusive of its integral ring, original ribbon with clear protective shield, the ribbon placed within a horizontal framed hanger with screwback, in its hardshelled case of issue, maroon exterior, inscribed "MEDALIA DE AUR / "Secera și Ciocanul" " (Gold Medal / "The Sickle and the Hammer") in gold-coloured ink on the lid, white nylon padded inside lid, recessed medal bed in maroon velvet, very fine and very rare.
Accompanied by the official Hero of Socialist Labour Award Diploma, printed in red, blue and gold-coloured inks on a thick paper stock, personalized inscription in black ink, State Council emboss stamped, numbered "381" and dated "1961", signed in blue ink by the President, measuring 253 mm x 350 mm, in its cardboard tube of issue with a simulated leather exterior, measuring 45 mm x 275 mm, very fine.
