(Ordine militare di Savoia). Instituted 1815 by King Victor Emmanuel I. An eight pointed star, each arm consisting of a cluster of five individual faceted rays, obverse centre featuring a white enameled Pison Cross, with detailed green and red enamel laurel and olive branches in each quadrant, obverse centre depicting the restructure date 1855, two crossed swords, and the initials VE (Victor Emmanuel), all hand carved in Gold, reverse with pin assembly and dual stays, marked by Gardino-Cravanzola time of period cartouche, rarely hallmarked twice by French hallmark denoting silver guarantee since 1838, indicating possible reused of a French star for particular this order, measuring 83.18 mm (w) x 89.24 mm (h), with light enamel contact, toning to 11 o'clock star arm, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order was founded by King Victor Emmanuel I, and it was awarded to military personnel in recognition of acts of honour, bravery, and merit during times of war; it was rarely awarded to foreigners. This Order was conferred upon all military personnel of all ranks.
