Prussia, Kingdom. An Early Order of the Black Eagle, Breast Star, c.1810

(Schwarzer-Adler-Orden Bruststern). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star with pebbled arms, each completing with an integral loop for sew-on attachment, the obverse bearing a central pale orange enameled medallion, overload by a hand-painted black Prussian imperial eagle clutching a green laurel wreath and lightning bolts, within a ribbed ring, in turn surrounded a white enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “SUUM CUIQUE” and hand-painted laurel branches, set within a final ribbed outer ring, the reverse with four rivets retaining original nuts to secured the obverse applique in place, unmarked, measuring 84.16 mm (w) x 85.52 mm (h), weighing 39.2 grams, minor flecking is evident to the enamels and the two o’clock arm it missing its loop, an early and high-quality example in near extremely fine condition.
