A silver star with a gold cross pattee with four white enameled arms; the obverse with an enameled Brandenburg crowned eagle, surrounded by a broad white enameled ring, inscribed “Sincere et Constanter” (Latin - Sincere and Persistent) in gold lettering; the reverse with a vertical pin, and a functional hinge/catch assembly; marked by perhaps the foremost maker of Prussian orders, “15 Löth Hossauer, Berlin” on the reverse; measuring 73.63 mm (w) x 73.77 mm (h); weighing 43.1, with enamel repair to centre surround, centre apploque slighly loose, in overall very fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
