(Königlische Kronen-Orden IV. Klasse). Instituted on 18.10.1861 by King Wilhelm I. (Issued 1867-1918). A silver gilt cross pattee with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central silver gilt medallion depicting the royal crown, surrounded by a dark blue ring of enamels, inscribed “GOTT MIT UNS” (God with Us) in gilt letterin, the reverse with a central silver gilt medallion depicting the crowned royal cipher of King Wilhelm, surrounded by a dark blue ring of enamels, dated “DEN 18. OCTOBER 1861”, suspended from a ring, with a period original Hohenzollern ribbon, measuring 41.40 mm (w) x 41.29 mm (h), weighing 20.2 grams, in overall extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
