A sought after ""bombe""-type cross in Gold, consisting of a red enameled Maltese cross with black enameled boarders, obverse centre piece is extremely well enameled with hand painted Gold details and highlights, reverse centre featuring institution date on black enamels, well marked with Kokoshnik assay marked of woman's head on elongated loop, also marked with St.Petersburg Zolotniki fineness number ""56"" on the integral ring denoting 14ct Gold, partial makers mark on integral ring, measuring 49 mm (w) x 53.2 mm (h - inclusive on integral suspension), 19.6 grams, with minimal enamel contact, remains near extremely fine.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
