(Cuerpo Jurídico Militar). Instituted 1857. Alfonso XIII Period (1902-1931). A faceted silver gilt star with diagonal-ended rays, superposed by a red and blue-enameled centrepiece with crest of Military Justice in silver gilt, surrounded by the collar of the Golden Fleece, and a ribbon with the inscription “Justicia Militar” (Military Justice), both in silver gilt, surmounted by a period silver gilt Spanish Crown, reverse with pin assembly and dual stays, measuring 79.51 mm (w) x 80.33 mm (h), with loss of the red enamels of the crown, and some loss to the enamels of the centrepiece, fine.
Footnote: The Military Magistrate was officially instituted in 1857 by the Queen Isabel II, and it was in charged of the procedures of legal issues into the Spanish Army. It was abolish in 1989 and it was replaced by a different Military Magistrate.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
