Russia, Imperial. An 1873 Medal for the Visit of the Shah of Qajar Iran to Russia
Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of Tsar Alexander II, circumscribed by name and title in Russian Cyrillic, the reverse bearing a Persian dedication to Naser al-Din Shah Qajar from the Tsar, welcoming him to the Russian Empire during his tour of Europe in 1873, set within a circular laurel and oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing initials “А.С.” for an unidentified manufacturer, measuring 65 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
