Russia, Imperial. An 1899 Table Medal for the Franco-Russian Exhibition in St. Petersburg
Constructed of bronze with enamels, the obverse bearing two raised female figures symbolizing Marianne (France) and Mother Russia, flanked on the left by a red enameled Geneva Cross and on the right by a raised depiction of St. Isaac’s Cathedral, set above an inscription of “ST. PETERSBOURG” and a date of “1899” in Roman numerals, and below an inscription of “EXPOSITION FRANCO-RUSSE”, the reverse bearing a Russian Cyrillic inscription similarly identifying the medal as being issue to commemorate the 1899 Franco-Russian Exhibition in St. Petersburg, flanked on the left by a laurel branch, measuring 50.84 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
