Russia, Soviet Union. A 1958 Moscow Construction Medal, with Case, by the Soviet Mint
Constructed of bronze, the obverse depicting a Soviet construction worker wielding a trowel, set against a background bearing a depiction the main building at Moscow State University and above an inscription of “МОСКВА” (“MOSCOW”), the reverse bearing a raised and finely-detailed depiction of the Monument to Minin and Pozharsky with St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin in the background, the obverse maker marked with the logo of the Soviet Mint in Leningrad and dated “1958”, measuring 65 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction and retaining a cotton batting medal bed, unmarked, measuring 75 mm in diameter, the case missing the edge of the lid, in overall near extremely fine condition.
