Bavaria, Kingdom. An Officer’s Brocade and Buckle
(Bayern Feldbinde für Offiziere). A very well-preserved Bavarian Officer’s brocade and buckle, the former constructed of a reinforced smooth blue wool underlay, the exterior bearing a silver aluminum wire tresse with two machine-embroidered light blue threaded bands, with dual sliding knots of identical composition, one end of the reverse affixed with a brown leather tongue with eight sets of dual eyelets for an adjustable fit, retaining a bronze loop with claws, unmarked, measuring 45 mm (w) x 980 mm (l), the opposite end retaining a period original buckle, constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised Bavarian crown, set within a circular laurel leaf wreath, the reverse with a clip and buckle, unmarked with the exception of a D.R.G.M. logo and code “115221”, measuring 46 mm in diameter, with minor, age-appropriate signs of wear to the brocade, in near extremely fine condition.
