FENIAN RAID 1870 (1022, PTE. W. LIGHT, 69/S. LIN. R.). Naming is officially British Army engraved in italic capitals. Original ribbon, bruised, light contact, better than very fine.
Footnote: 1022 Private William Light is shown on the roll of the 163 man 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot, and is listed on page 43 of the ""Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70"" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1870 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted from Montreal, Quebec to Trout River, near Huntington, Quebec, in 1870, under he command of Lieutenant Colonel G. Bagot, however, although he was sent to Trout River, Thyen's book indicates that he was not in action at the Battle of Trout River on May 27, 1870.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
