"Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" (for Church and Pontiff) Cross, 1st Class Gold Grade (in silver gilt, measuring 42.7 mm (w) x 46 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, scattered gilt wear on the obverse, original ribbon, near extremely fine); Papal Medal of Pope Pius XII, Jubilee of the Holy Year, Rome 1950 (in silvered zinc, measuring 31 mm (w) x 53.5 mm inclusive of its 1950 dated Chi Rho suspension, original ribbon, near extremely fine); and Papal Medal of Pope Leo XIII Jubilee of the Holy Year, Rome 1900 (in brass, measuring 26 mm in diameter, edge nicks, bruised, surface wear, without ribbon or ring, fine).
Footnote: The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross was instituted by Pope Leo XIII on July 17, 1888, in memory of his golden jubilee in holy orders and was awarded to the men and women who had made a significant contribution to the success of the jubilee and the associated Vatican Exposition. It was made a permanent distinction only in October 1898 and rewards both clergy and lay persons for outstanding service to the Pontiff or the Catholic Church. The medal is awarded in three grades: gold, silver or bronze.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
