(Orden del Libertador). Instituted 1854 and Confirmed 1880. 1880-1920 Issue. Of quality German manufacture, consisting of an eight- pointed multi-rayed star in silver, obverse centre appliqué in silver gilt featuring a superposed bust of Simon Bolivar, surrounded by an enameled blue border inscribed by his name, reverse with traditional flat pin assembly, marked by maker’s cartouche of Godet & Son, measuring 79.98 mm (w) x 81.05 mm (h), with minor toned silver, extremely good condition.
Footnote: The Order of the Liberator was the highest distinction of Venezuela and was appointed for services to the country, outstanding merit and benefits made to the community, until its abolition in 2010. The order was confirmed by Antonio Guzmán Blanco on September 14, 1880, and reformed in 1922 under the presidential term of Juan Vicente Gómez.
